Growing up watching Ironman World Championships with his father, Andrew set a goal to one day complete an Ironman himself.  While at the University of Michigan Andrew started training for his first Ironman under the guidance of Mark Sisson.  Mark, a former executive director of Tri-Fed (predecessor to USAT) and then Secretary of ITU, was himself a 4th place finisher at the 1984 Ironman World Championships, a former 2:17 marathoner, and coach to many top professionals.  Andrew started training while studying engineering at Michigan, and used the freedom of his class schedule to take undergraduate and graduate courses in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics.  In September of 2003 Andrew accomplished his goal, finishing the Ironman Wisconsin Triathlon.

The Athlete...
Shortly thereafter, Andrew suffered his first major injury (ironically, NOT training related) and had to take some time off.  This allowed him to focus on his engineering degree and work in the UM Substrate Metabolism Lab, where he continued his personal research into how to make himself the best he could be.  After graduating in 2004, Andrew returned to Los Angeles and hopped into a local 5k only to discover that he was much faster than he would have expected after a 7 month layoff - in fact, faster than he had ever raced before.  Andrew started training with internationally renown coaches Joe Douglas of the Santa Monica Track Club and swim coach Gerry Rodrigues, and pushed himself to new levels.

Andrew has been able to progress by leaps and bounds in the few years sinse he started training, even though he missed much of 2005 due to injury.
In May 2007  he was able to "turn pro", earning his USA Triathlon Pro/Elite License.

With a run that places him at the top in any field he enters, Andrew hopes to work his way through the ITU circuit in an attempt to make the US Olympic Team.  With his philosophy of training for the swim like a swimmer, the bike like a cyclist, and the run like a runner, Andrew puts in a large volume of work each week.  It seems to be working and is allowing Andrew to catch up to the other athletes who started competing in endurance sports earlier in their lives.  Look for Andrew around the Los Angeles area (he's always running up and down San Vicente Blvd. in Santa Monica/Brentwood) and at the races; swim meets, cycling "crits", road races (cycling and running), track meets, aquathons, and of course triathlons.

The Coach...
Starting in 2004, Andrew has been coaching for the LA Leggers Track Program.  Drawing on his education and personal experience, Andrew designed a program to help runners of all abilities perform better.  Andrew teaches proper running mechanics so that clients can run faster, more easily, and with less chance of injury.  He trains his runners to tune into their bodies to find their proper running paces, instead of depending upon unreliable formulas and gadgets.  Now coaching with LiquidFitness.com, Andrew is working with runners and triathletes from all over the country.  Offering personal coaching services as well as online training programs, athletes can access Andrew's expanding wealth of knowledge for individual success

The Model...
In nearly any fitness or men's magazine published after May 2007, Andrew can be seen as the "Hero" marathoner in the new PowerBar print ads.  Along with the print ads, a giant poster of Andrew has been seen making the rounds at major events nationwide (marathon expo's and other events PowerBar has been attending).  Andrew is now represented by Sports Unlimited, Inc. and is auditioning regularly for various ads and commercials.  His first commercial dates back to 2005 when he ran in the background of the Nike Free "Chariots of Fire" commercial.  Look for Andrew in upcoming ads and at events.
